Unknown Gaudí, Tapas & Cava Winery

Tour description

Castlexperience Wine Tours’ approach is simple: nothing tops better a dive into local history, culture and landmarks than the off the beaten track surrounding wine country, where local producers are ready to show all their stories and traditions. Our Unknown Gaudí, Tapas & Cava Winery has been crafted for you to get what nobody gets while following this formula. Discover the unexplored stunning Gaudí landmarks, where no one goes, and match that with the most local Spanish and Catalan cava, a unique episode of local wine culture.

Join this English wine tour as part of one of our reduced groups departing daily from central Barcelona. Your guide will take you to Colònia Güell, right out of Barcelona, where you will learn about the very rich industrial past this city had during the 19th century. This industrial colony was built right at the beginning of the 20th by the main promoter that Gaudí ever had, the Count Eusebi Güell. Amongst many modernist buildings, we can find here one of Gaudí’s most stunning works: the crypt of the colony’s church. While at the peak of Catalan Modernism artistical movement, Gaudí planned here a beautiful church that had to serve as a real-life model for what La Sagrada Familia was becoming. The resemblance is such, that this one also remained unfinished. A true unexplored Modernist gem you can’t miss!

This Gaudí masterpiece lies at the gates of one of the most famous Spanish and Catalan wine making region, the DO Penedès, birthplace of Catalan cava. You never thought you would find wine country so close to Barcelona, but we are surrounded by it! This is a great chance to explore the world of local cavas, the Catalan white and rosé sparkling wines, by hands with one of our local collaborators. We will take you to a local cava winery where you will taste 3 award winning products, paired with the tastiest locally produced tapas! You never received such a dose of local history and gastronomy in just 6 hours!
